An Ecological Approach to Examining How Americans Seek Information in
Today's Information Environment

In recent years, several scholars have called for an ecological approach to HIB (Human information Behavior)research in order to better understand information needs and information seeking. In this poster we present the theoretical background of the ecological approach and present the findings of a study that investigates correlations between people's information needs and the information channels they seek in relation to contextual and environmental factors.
