Metrics 2011:  Symposium on Informetric and Scientometric Research (SIG MET)
Wednesday, October 12, 2011, Full Day 9:00am-5:00pm (workshop fee)

Workshop Program

The newly formed ASIS&T Special Interest Group for Metrics (SIG/MET) proposes a post-conference workshop focused on metrics. This workshop will provide an opportunity for in-depth conversation on metric-related issues, including the latest theories, approaches, applications, innovations, and tools. The international planning meeting will widely publicize this event, with the goal of increasing participation not only at the workshop, but at the ASIS&T annual meeting. The workshop will allow for informal connections between senior researchers and newcomers to the field, particularly by featuring the work of the winners of SIG/MET’s student paper competition. Submissions to the workshop will be in the form of abstracts and will be reviewed by an international committee. Metrics have been a pillar of research within the information science community—this workshop will continue in this tradition, providing a venue for this active community within the context of ASIS&T.
