Notes from the 2006 SIG-LT Meeting

Attending: Marie Radford (mradford @ scils.rutgers.edu ), Lynn Silipigui Connaway (cibbawak @ oclc.org), Heather O'Daniel (hodaniel @ lrri.org), Pascal Calarco (pcalarco @ nd.edu), Rafal Kasprowski (rkasprowski @ uh.edu), and Janet Arth, recorder (arth @ umn.edu)
- Janet will take notes for this meeting.
- Rafal will continue as SIG LT chair.
- Janet volunteered to work on the SIG LT web page, Rafal will facilitate the transfer.
- The remainder of the meeting was spent raising and discussing possible programs for the 2007 Annual Meeting. These ideas, with interested parties noted in parentheses, include:
- Millennials' behavior and preferences: implications for systems and service design (Marie presented this idea for Jeffrey Pomerantz)
- Next generation library catalogs, e.g., Open WorldCat, NCSU, Ex Libris's Primo, and the work of the U Rochester work on the eXtensible Catalog (Pascal and Janet; Lynn could identify possible speakers with respect to Open WorldCat)
- Knowledge bases for E-Reference (Lynn)
- Digital Rights Management systems: how they work; how they affect scholarly communication; technical, social and legal aspects (Rafal)
- Digital repositories; including, but not necessarily limited to, how to best facilitate self-archiving (Heather)
- MS Sharepoint as a collaboration platform in a non-profit environment (Heather)
- Rafal will take these ideas to the Tuesday morning all SIG meeting.
