Kris Lieberman, Panels Manager, talked to LT members about the call for participation. She encouraged members to give as much information in proposal as possible. If author abstracts and information are not yet available, try to give information on why the speaker(s) were chosen.

Program Ideas:

♦   Electronic resource management systems. Get people from digital library federation, vendors, libraries.

♦   PDA compliant usage, how PDA's are usd, how they can be used in collection development

♦   RFID
♦   Checking out laptops to students for use in a wireless environment so they wouldn't have to build onto library so quickly. Use in building. Clarion University is one that is using this model.

♦   Interactions between libraries and course management systems.

♦   Libraries and GIS. How libraries are using GIS info to determine where new libraries, schools, etc. should be built. How libraries might use this demographic information to anticipate changes in services; Libraries and GIS. How libraries bring geospatial information together with manuscripts, photos, etc.
- Potential co-sponsor: Digital Libraries
♦   How libraries are shifting from portals to context/content management systems
♦   Libraries and the semantic web

Publicity ideas to get our SIG name known again:

♦   Give-aways – flyer, bookmarks
♦   Create a brochure
♦   Send out an email column or column in Bulletin
♦   Ask for ideas on discussion list
♦   Add giveaway to welcoming kit?
♦   Add giveaway to ASIST registration packet
