1. What is the definition of a “developing country”?  Which countries fall into this category?

The term “developing country” refers to a nation that has low to middle-income economic standing.

The term is largely convenient [for analytical purposes] since not all the countries grouped under this classification are experiencing similar development.

The World Bank published a list in 2003 distinguishing developed countries from developing ones.  That list may be found at http://www.worldbank.org/annualreport/2003/pdf/v1_10_1.pdf under Part II Members.

Data and statistics on currently developing countries may be found on the World Bank Group website at the following URL:
http://worldbank.org/data/countryclass/classgroups.htm

The same information in a consolidated excel format is available through the following link: http://worldbank.org/data/databytopic/CLASS.XLS

2. What publication style and format should I use when preparing my scholarly work?

As of this year, ASIS&T requires that scholarly works follow the Chicago Publication Style.  Microsoft (MS) Word is the appropriate software to use when formatting.  For detailed information, visit the International Information and Library Review website at: http://authors.elsevier.com/GuideForAuthors.html?PubID=622845&dc=GF and look under the heading, Guide for Authors.
