InfoShare

InfoShare, a program sponsored by SIG III, awards one-year ASIST memberships to information professionals in developing countries for whom the cost of membership would be a financial burden. Read on to learn more about the program or take a look at the InfoShare Recipients.

Why is InfoShare important?

InfoShare increases awareness of the importance of international cooperation, facilitates and enhances communication and interaction among ASIST members and colleagues worldwide, and provides a forum for exploration and discussion of international information issues.

Who can become a recipient of an InfoShare award?

Recipients must reside in a country where there is no ASIST chapter. Recipients may be practitioners or researchers. Recipients may be International students enrolled in information science programs and nearing completion of their studies and preparing to return to their home country.

How can someone become an InfoShare award recipient?

Recipients are nominated by SIG III members but any ASIST member, Chapter, or SIG, may recommend an individual for nomination.

How can I nominate someone for an InfoShare award?

Send nominee name and contact information (address, FAX, email) to Sue O'Neill Johnson, InfoShare Coordinator. Include a brief statement describing why the nominee should receive an InfoShare award. Include your name and contact information.

When are InfoShare memberships awarded?

Memberships may be awarded throughout the year depending upon availability of funds.

How is the Program funded?

The Program is funded by mainly two sources: The silent auction and raffle, which take place at the International Reception at the Conference, which will continue thanks to the generosity of Elsevier Publishers. The generous donations of ASIST individual members, Chapters and SIGs.

How does SIG III support InfoShare?

SIG III holds two major fund raising events, a silent auction and a raffle, during the International Reception at the ASIST Annual Meeting. SIG III solicits InfoShare donations throughout the year. SIG III strives for fairness in selection and equity geographic distribution of awardees.

How can I support an InfoShare award?

Any individual, group, or institution can sponsor a recipient or contribute to the pooled fund; ASIST membership is not required of sponsors nor are sponsors required to work under the auspices of any institution to contribute to the InfoShare program. You can also support the annual fundraising drive by donating an auction item.
