Welcome
This page is sponsored by SIG/HCI, a Special Interest Group of the American Society for Information Science & Technology (ASIS&T) . SIG/HCI is a group of people in information science and technology fields who have a special interest in issues such as:
- human-computer interaction
- human-information interaction
- interface design
- usability testing
- effective online communication
Mission
SIG-HCI serves practical and theoretical interests relating to how human beings use and interact with computers with the goal of fostering the design and development of more usable systems. Interests include system users and their behavior; the observable capabilities and performance of the interactive computer system; and the characteristics of the human-computer interface. SIG-HCI encourages the development and refinement of interaction models to highlight common features in existing or proposed user interfaces. A major emphasis is on the interface with networks and various digital information storage and retrieval applications, but other information processing and display systems are also considered.
