As the Industrial Revolution radically altered the means of production and transformed in the process the way people viewed their work, their societies, and each other, so too the Digital Revolution has the potential to profoundly alter the way that societies function at the global, local, and personal level.

This book is an exploration of the issues of and the effects that this Revolution is having and will have-on the ways we conduct business, the ways we teach, and the ways that we interact to build a social structure that forms our society. It seeks to identify and understand the dynamics of these changes, and to develop and debate methodologies for this assessment.

The contributed papers and SIG sessions of the ASIS mid-year meeting were expanded and enhanced to create the proceedings. Perhaps most striking in the collection is the emphasis by the participants on various user groups. It is clear that while the authors and contributors are concerned about new techniques, or of providing faster and more effective ways of doing things, in the end it is the users in different groupings that is of deep concern.

The Proceedings are divided into two parts. The Contributed Papers and the SIG Sessions. The Author Index and Subject Index follow. The Author Index includes names of Contributed Paper authors and SIG session contributors, panelists, and participants.
