The theme of the 1995 ASIS Annual Meeting is "Converging Technologies: Forging Partnerships in Information."
Contributors were asked to consider the broad topics of Access, Delivery, and Navigation as they relate to the convergence of new information technologies, exploring both the potential positive and negative ramifications of this convergence for information users and providers. The resulting papers, SIG sessions, plenary sessions, and special sessions reflect a wide-ranging exploration of the conference theme.
The proceedings are organized into three parts. Part I Contributed Papers, is arranged in the order of the presentations at the conferencePart II
SIG Session Abstracts, is arranged alphabetically by SIG. Part III For the Record, contains a list of the plenary sessions,
special sessions, and additional SIG sessions for which abstracts were not included in Part II. Two indexes of this volume are provided. The first lists the name of all authors of contributed papers, moderators of SIG
and special sessions, and speakers at SIG sessions for which an abstract is included in Part II. The subject index to the contributed papers and SIG session abstracts is based on keywords supplied by the contributors.
The contributed papers are divided into major topic heading, such as Images; Libraries; Indexing; Information Needs of End-Users; IR Research; Bibliometrics; Information Seeking; Communication Technology; and System
Design. This volume is an exceptionally useful source of information on the research and interests of ASIS members, especially for colleagues who were unable to attend the conference ©1995
