Online Experience and Interaction Manager (EIM)                

 

Position Summary:

The Experience/Interaction Manager creates branded, interactive user experiences such as blogs and other appropriate web 2.0 tools dealing with the content of ASIS&T publications, SIG and Chapter activities, and e-mail list activity. The Online EIM helps define and implement the strategic and creative vision; “owns” the online information architecture, navigation, interaction and user experience; researches and defines user needs, business goals and requirements; and coordinates with technical staff to facilitate online interaction and community building. 

Responsibilities:

The EIM:

  • Takes ownership of and stimulates the EIM component of all ASIS&T Content and online interaction.

  • Understands brands and communities, and how to bring them to life online.

  • Serves as primary point of contact with Editors, Editorial Board members and ASIS&T members and other users for all E/I issues.

  • Delivers work on time and on budget.

  • Communicates concerns, problems and ideas proactively to ASIS&T leadership.

  • Is articulate, clear and confident in presenting his/her work online, externally and internally.

  • Provides expert usability and interaction design recommendations to those working on implementation.

  • Actively pursues self development in current and new web communications/community technologies.

  • Must have a strong sense of “web intuition.”

  • Highly collaborative with excellent organizational skills, strong communication and people skills, and the ability to manage multiple ongoing projects.

  • Able to work alone effectively and efficiently

Primary Tasks + Deliverables

  • Plans, conducts and analyzes primary and secondary research (heuristic evaluations, competitive analyses, one-on-one interviews, online surveys, stakeholder interviews, etc.).

  • Plans and conducts internal editorial team and user work sessions (brainstorms, requirements workshops, etc.).

  • Defines, prioritizes and drives consensus on project requirements, including all features, functions and content.

  • Develops process models, user personas and scenarios.

  • Assists technical implementers with functional specifications.

Qualifications: 

  • 5+ years experience creating user-centered web interaction solutions, including research, solution validation, measurement and implementation. 

  • Experience as primary EIM on comparable web sites.

  • Excellent written and oral communications and presentations skills.

  • Strong leadership, interpersonal and management skills. 

  • Demonstrated critical thinking ability.

  • Experience working in academic and practitioner environments.

Education :

  • Bachelor's degree

Graduate degree (preferred) in such fields as Human Factors, HCI, Design, Anthropology, communication, journalism or related field
