Mobile Technology as an important KM Tool on Development: A Study on India
Taverekere Srikantaiah
Summary
This study explores the relationship between mobile technologies and development in India. An important CI (competitive Intelligence) tool--SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats) analysis was used in determining the impact. Mobile technologies are a significant part of ICT investment around the world and they play an increasing role in sectors such as education, agriculture, industry, and health sciences. This investment and development applies not only to the urban environment but also extends to rural areas. This paper discusses, on the basis of SWOT analysis, the KM impact on economic and social sectors and outlines the benefits. The analysis also considers the commitment of the government and industry in influencing “product and process” areas of mobile technologies and the innovative business approaches carried out to meet the needs of the market environment.
