Newcomer's Reception, Sunday afternoon 5:30pm - 6:30 pm New ASIS members and first-time attendees will receive special invitations to the Newcomer's Reception. Reception guests will get a preview of ASIS and its meetings and be able to make contacts at the start of the meeting to make the conference experience more comfortable.
SIG RUSH and Welcome Reception, Sunday 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm Patterned after the rush parties we remember from our college days, SIG Rush is an open reception at which representatives of the 20 ASIS Special Interest Groups (SIGs) are available to discuss the goals and programs of their SIGs. It's an ideal opportunity to become more familiar with the specialties and special benefits represented by the SIGs.
Alumni Reception, Monday 6:30-8:00 Academic institutions share the sponsorship for this informal opportunity to renew relationships with faculty, colleagues, classmates, staff and others.
Dutch-Treat Networking Dinners One of the most popular activities ASIS meetings!! DTN Dinners are a terrific way to combine sampling Pittsburgh's cuisine with sharing time with friends and colleagues, making new contacts, and discussing some of the hot topics in information science that most directly affect you. When you arrive at the conference, you'll be able to sign up for the dinner of your choice. Each dinner will be hosted by a local "expert" who will direct the night's discussion. Every one who has participated in the networking Dinners has raved about them. (remember to sign up early - places are on a first-come, first-served basis).
ASIS President's Reception Wednesday 6:30pm -7:30 pm and ASIS Annual Banquet, Wednesday 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm Visit with friends - old and new at this Gala reception. Then celebrate the major accomplishments in the field of information science as ASIS bestows its prestigious Annual Awards at the Annual Banquet. (Note: One ticket to the banquet is included with the full ASIS conference registration fee; additional tickets may be purchased).
