Copy and paste (or enter directly) chunks of data in the appropriate text areas - Abstract, Body (Sections and Subsections), References, Acknowlegements, Appendix, Footnotes.
- When pasting, a separate window may open titled Paste as Plain Text. Note: You may be asked to give permission for this application to access your clipboard.
- Paste and click the OK button
- Select any text that should be bolded or italicized or underlined and click the appropriate button (located directly above the entry area on the 'formatting toolbar'). Note: You can also "turn on" and "turn off" each of these with your keyboard: Ctrl+b for Bold, Ctrl+i for Italics, Ctrl+u for underlining
- You will also need to do this for superscripted characters (e.g. to reference a footnote), subscripted characters, lists (see more below), indented (e.g. quotes or sub-sub sections), centered (e.g. table or figure captions).
- You can create a table with the TableCreate button, but it's preferable to upload an image of your table (see Images instructions)
Images (Figures, Tables, Equations)
Upload images directly into your text:
- Click the Image Upload Button
A dialog window opens.
- Click the Upload tab.
- Browse to the file on your local drive and select it.
- Click the Send it to the Server button. Click OK
- Click the Image Info tab to see (and modify) your image dimensions and a preview
- Click OK to close dialog. Click the CenterAlign button
to center image.
- Enter (or copy and paste) the caption for the image; click the CenterAlign button to center caption.
Special characters
Accented and special characters can all be entered in to the textarea using the special character button on the 'formatting toolbar', the next to last icon - ⇒
Equations
Equations can be entered using Unicode numeric character codes (UTF-8 set), but it may be easier to capture them and create an image file (see image insertion instructions).
Sub-sub sections
Inside the Sub-Section entry area, use the indent button to set a 3rd level and the bold button to create a heading. (You may also enclose the heading in the <h4></h4> tags).
Last Steps
When all entry is completed, click the End of Step One Button
In Step 2, you choose subject terms for your submission. If there are terms not suggested, enter them in the Author Keywords textbox, one per line.
Click Submit. You will see your submission and at the bottom have the choice of Editing or Confirming your submission.
