Abstract
The
Institute of Museum and Library Services
"Librarians for the 21st Century" program has awarded $291,000 to the
Drexel
College
of Information Science and Technology (IST) to
develop a model curriculum for the management of digital information. This
project will build institutional capacity in areas such as metadata development
and management, online repositories, digital libraries, and digital
preservation. The highlighted example presents one classroom tool under
development -- a collaborative work environment to support students as they work
individually and in groups to learn the basics of image indexing. Moreover,
we are exploring extending the image indexing tool to the description of even
more
complex media objects such as video clips.
