The data from previous Keeping Found Things Found (KFTF) study has revealed that people used many different keeping methods to keep information found from the Web, and that several functions appear to influence the choice of method. However, no current methods provide all desired functions. But suppose it were possible to choose a "super” method that realize all or most of the valued functions in one view? By the logic of the functional analysis, people should eventually come to prefer this new method. As a result, AddToFavorites2 (ATF2) was developed as a tool to support the kind of “super” keeping method. ATF2 is a modified design of the existing Add Favorites dialog of Internet Explorer. The prototype provides all the features of the standard Add Favorites dialog and provides the following additional features: 1. The option to add one ore more sentence in a "description" field. 2. The option to email the web address to oneself (or to others) as a reminder using the "Send to..." button. 3. The option to place a newly created Favorite in an existing folder hierarchy (already established to organize electronic documents). We conducted an evaluation to test whether a "super" keeping method actually adds more values and increases users' interests in using Favorites to keep information found. This poster will describe the ATF2 prototype, the procedure and results of the evaluation and provide clues to the effectiveness of the super keeping method.
