The first phase of the World Summit on the Information Association will take place in Geneva hosted by the Government of Switzerland from 10 to 12 December 2003. The second phase will take place in Tunis hosted by the Government of Tunisia, in 2005. The first paper will present progress achieved in the preparation of the Summit, and give an overview of issues to be discussed at the Summit. The scene being set, Julian Warner will address one of the main issues of the Summit - freedom of expression. Tran Ngoc Ca’s paper will focus on the main two themes of the Summit: ICT for all dealing with digital divide and the e-inclusion issue; the second is ICT for socio-economic development: using ICT as enabler for the development of economy and society.
