Happy New Year!
Our New Year’s Resolution is to be better about maintaining the MN ASIST web site. Soon we will be planning our first meeting of 2007 and will announce it here and on our email list.
And Now for Something Completely Different
Our brief, recent history: we have been recreating ourselves over the last two years. In 2005 we started having free informal monthly gathering for our members. The meetings, And Now for Something Completely Different, have generally featured local information professionals with niche skills. We have had experts in Competitive Intelligence, SQL databases, James Joyce, usability, blogs just to name a few. The goal has been to introduce all of us to new fields and highlight local expertise.
Who Attends these Sessions
Our members and friends are varied and attendees usually include students, library directors, professionals in a wide range of information careers, independent contractors, and job seekers. Our meetings are open to our local sister organizations, Minnesota Special Library Association and Minnesota Association of Law Librarians. We have also been known to partner with the Independent Scholars, Nonprofit Tech Roundtables, and are open to working with others.
