The Michigan Chapter of the American Society for Information Science & Technology invites you to join us as we
connect with colleagues, enjoy dinner, and learn about medical information on the Web! This will be our first "annual meeting,"
which will serve as a time for our Chapter members to connect with each other, learn about the Chapter itself, how to get involved,
and a time to prepare for the upcoming ASIS&T Annual Meeting (Nov 3 - 8, 2006, Austin, TX).
WHEN: Wednesday, October 25, 2006 5:30 PM - 8:00 PM WHERE: PROGRAM SPEAKER & PRESENTATION: Robin Sabo, Reference Librarian/Health Sciences Bibliographer at Central Michigan University
will be our guest speaker for this event. Searching for medical information is the third most popular use of the Internet.
Are healthcare consumers finding the high quality information they need, or are they being harmed by unreliable or dangerous information?
A checklist for evaluating health sites and a tour of trustworthy online websites will be presented. PROGRAM DINNER MENU: (cash bar and hors d'oeuvres will be available for the first hour of the meeting) Dinner entree choice of Chicken Piccata or Vegetarian Wellington (make choice upon registration);
dinner comes with salad, fresh cauliflower, broccoli and carrot blend, herb roasted redskin potatoes, and black forest cake as dessert. COST: REGISTRATION CLOSED
