The Association for Information Science and Technology (ASIST) has been the society for information professionals leading the search for new theories, techniques, and technologies to improve access to information since 1937. ASIST's southern California chapter began life in 1961, when it was chartered as the Los Angeles Chapter of the American Documentation Institute.
