			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Denison University is one of the oldest private liberal arts colleges in the state of Ohio. Founded in 1831 in the village of Granville, the college offers courses in the natural sciences, humanities, social sciences, and the fine arts. The William H. Doane Library sits at the heart of the college, on the east side of the Academic Quadrangle. The current library was built in 1936, with added modifications in 1958 and 1981. The tour, given by Moriana Garcia (Natural Sciences Liaison Librarian), will visit the main areas of the building and will conclude with a brief presentation about current tools and ongoing initiatives to support learning in the sciences at the library.</p>
<p>After the tour, we hope you can join us for dinner at a local restaurant (Dutch treat).</p>

<p><strong>PRESENTER:</strong><br />
<span style="text-decoration: underline;">Moriana L. M. Garcia,</span><br />
Moriana is the Natural Sciences Liaison Librarian at Denison University, a position she started in August 2009. Her work involves a close collaboration with teaching faculty; she aims to provide information literacy instruction tailored to science students’ specific needs. As part of this process, she also selects and monitors the library collection in the sciences, focusing on items that support Denison’s liberal arts curriculum. Moriana graduated with a Master of Library and Information Science from Kent State University in May 2009. She also holds an M.S. and a Ph.D. in Pharmacology from the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil.</p>

He came to the USA in 1999 and completed his B.S. in Human Resources, Master of Business Administration (MBA) at Franklin University, Columbus, OH, and Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) at Kent State University, OH. &#8220;My career in the library field started when I came to the USA. While studying I worked at Franklin University Library,&#8221; Stevo says. &#8220;Joining the Mount Carmel Health Sciences Library team gave me a chance to apply my extensive customer service experience and my business knowledge.&#8221;*</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Have a little free time?  Need a break?  Take the opportunity to tour the Cartoon Research Library (<a href="http://cartoons.osu.edu/">http://cartoons.osu.edu/</a>) located on the Ohio State University campus.  The Cartoon Research Library holds the largest collections of original cartoon art in the world.  The collection includes editorial cartoons, comic strips, comic books, graphic novels, sports cartoons, and magazine cartoons. Currently on display is the works of Sam Milai (March 23, 1908 – April 30, 1970), an artist and cartoonist of the Pittsburgh Courier. <p><span id="more-55"></span>Tour begins at <strong>3:30pm on Tuesday, October 28, 2008</strong> and lasts between an hour and an hour and a half depending on questions.  Numbers are limited for the tour so please <a href="http://www.asis.org/Chapters/coasis/contact/">sign-up online</a> or at the sign-in sheet on the message board at the conference. The Cartoon Research Library is a short drive or bus ride north on High street (#2 bus) to Ohio State University; the Library is in the same building as the Wexner Center for the Arts, on High Street between 15th and 17th avenue.</p>

<p>You are invited to attend the CO-ASIS&amp;T program featuring a presentation and tour at the new Library in The Ohio State University&#8217;s Knowlton School of Architecture.</p>
<p>Knowlton Hall is the new home for the OSU disciplines of architecture, city and regional planning, and landscape architecture. For the first time in over 30 years, the library collection serving these disciplines is housed in the same building with them. Design architects Mack Scogin and Merrill Elam of Atlanta have described the library as a &#8220;two-story, glass-box, book-lined room.&#8221; This unique facility also houses the Knowlton School of Architecture Digital Library. Join Jane McMaster, Architecture Librarian and Lorrie McAllister, Visual Resources Curator, who will share information aobut the building, the design of the library, and how it is meeting the needs of its patrons for both print and digital image resources.</p>
