			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Andrew Pace, always entertaining and informative, will speak at the December gathering of the Central Ohio Chapter of the American Society for Information Science &amp; Technology (CO-ASIS&amp;T). Plan to attend his presentation on Tuesday, December 7, 2010: <strong>&#8220;Getting Libraries to Web-scale&#8221;</strong></p>
<p>Last year, Andrew Pace talked about the web-scale landscape for libraries. This year he&#8217;s back to talk about some real-life experiences in moving libraries to the cloud and providing traditional local system functionality in the cloud. In July 2010, OCLC released Web-scale Management Services to a handful of Pilot and Early Adopter Libraries. Several other library providers are busy providing hosted, SaaS, and cloud-based applications. Pace will discuss this trend and what it means for providers, libraries, and their patrons.</p>

<p><strong>PRESENTER ANDREW PACE</strong> is the Executive Director for Networked Library Services at OCLC, where he is directing projects to move library management services to the network level. He was formerly Head of Information Technology at North Carolina State University Libraries, where he spent 9 years participating in several digital library projects. Pace is a Past President of the Library and Information Technology Association, a division of the ALA. He also serves on the NISO Information Standards Quarterly editorial board. He is a frequent speaker and writer on several library topics.
