Thank you Jeff Mixter!

A big thank you to Jeff Mixter for his presentation on linked data last night at the State Library of Ohio.

Jeff is a software engineer at OCLC in the Office of Research. His presentation, “Turning Metadata into Knowledge”, shared some of the research and experiments they are currently working on, particularly developing applications and services that publish linked data with RDF as the data standard. He touched on three examples: the Knowledge Pipeline/Vault, EntityJS, and the Person Lookup pilot. All projects look at how they can harvest data from other services such as WorldCat, VIAF, FAST, WikiData or authority files such as LOC, and deliver that data in a usable format.
