Road Race in Chapel Hill on morning of April 10. Plan ahead for travel and parking!

The Wachovia Tar Heel 10 Miler road race and Fleet Feet Sports Four-mile Run, beginning and ending on the UNC Campus, will be Saturday, April 10. Because runners will be following a race course that traverses campus and town roadways, there will be numerous temporary road closings, detours, and delays between 7:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. that morning.

Staged by Endurance Magazine, the race will begin on South Road near Carmichael Arena and finish inside UNC's Kenan Stadium. Athletes will run through areas including the Gimghoul Road neighborhood east of campus, downtown Chapel Hill including Franklin Street, the Battle Park area, and campus roads, including Stadium Drive and Ridge, South, and Country Club Roads. Motorists can expect traffic congestion on these and adjacent thoroughfares and should plan accordingly. Chapel Hill Transit service will also be affected.

For more information on the race course and other logistics, visit the event website. A map of the course with the approximate times that runners will be traversing various areas, including detour information, is here.

For information on parking, please refer to the UNC Department of Public Safety's site.
