| Pacific Northwest Chapter Association for Information Science and Technology ASIS&T Student Paper Competition The Pacific Northwest Chapter of the Association of Information Science and Technology is sponsoring its annual Student Paper Competition. The competition is open to any student, graduate or undergraduate, enrolled in an institution of higher education in Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon or Washington. Papers may represent unpublished work undertaken during the year or may be developed specifically for the competition. The Association for Information Science and Technology is an association of information professionals leading the search for new and better theories, techniques, and technologies to improve access to information. Some examples of topic for papers might be: users' information-seeking behavior, measurement of information and its use, subject indexing by machines and humans, use of multi-media information services, information security and privacy, and preservation of electronic information. The deadline for submission of papers is May 1, 2005. Please submit three copies of a typed, double-spaced paper to: Ernie Dornfeld All papers will be acknowledged upon receipt. The papers will be evaluated by an ad hoc committee which will notify the winner by May 31, 2005. Entries will be judged on the basis of quality, style, presentation, and originality. The winner will receive a $250 prize and free registration at the ASIS&T Pacific Northwest Chapter annual meeting. The winning paper will also be submitted as the chapter's entry in the national ASIS&T student paper competition. The winner of the national competition receives full registration and round-trip travel expenses (not to exceed $500) for the ASIS&T Annual Meeting in Charlotte, N.C..
