Re-Engineering Information Processes

In the value driven 90's, businesses, non-profits and even government agencies are actively searching for ways to "re-invent" themselves in order to achieve major advances in the effectiveness and efficiency of their operations. At the heart of these efforts is a re-examination of the way an organization operates. The need for squeezing every bit of value out is no less pressing for Information Service Managers. This course will focus on the process of Information Management and how this process can create value for your organization.

The course will specifically analyze the tasks that make up this process: Identification of Information Needs and Requirements Information Acquisition/Capture Information Packaging and Formatting Information Categorization and Storage Development of Information Products and Service Information Distribution and Dissemination Information Analysis and Use. It will also discuss how to develop the management structures needed to implement the process. Current examples of successful task and process implementation will be presented as well as cases for classroom discussion and analysis. Advance reading will be provided.
