The RDAP12 website describes the program and additional resources, and presentation slides and some poster material are available on SlideShare. Plans are underway for RDAP13, to be held in Baltimore, Maryland, in April 2013. A community planning email listserv is open to all.

Research Data Access & Preservation (RDAP)
by Melissa Weaver, Special Section Guest Editor
The 3rd ASIS&T RDAP Summit was held in New Orleans, March 22-23, 2012. For this special section of the Bulletin, we asked organizers of the RDAP Summit to highlight some of the critical issues they see in the areas of research data access and preservation. These authors provided feature articles as well as summaries of a few related panels to offer those who could not attend insight into the content of an RDAP Summit. We've also included a summary of the program, links to presentations and a selection of posters on slideshare, as well as information on how to learn about next year's RDAP13 Summit. A special thanks goes out to the 2012 Summit chair Michael Giarlo and to Joe Hourclé for helping to organize this issue.
Of the articles, the first by Karen M. Wickett, Xiao Hu and Andrea Thomer provides an excellent overview and summary of many of the major themes of the Summit. The other two articles by Joe Hourclé and Matt Mayernik focus on data citation. In addition to the articles, we also have session summaries provided to us for the panels on data citation from Joe Hourclé and Matt Mayernik and training data management practitioners by Xiao Hu.
